We’ve expanded
eligibility

URJ congregations can now offer the RPB retirement
plan to more employees.

URJ congregations may now offer the RPB Plan to any employee who:

We’re proud to have helped thousands of Reform Movement clergy, professionals, educators, and staff achieve a fulfilling retirement. And we’re ready to help more employees do the same.

Any employee can become an RPB retirement plan participant if they:

  • Are at least 18 years of age.

  • Work at least 18 hours per week at a URJ congregation. This means your employees in administrative, finance, custodial, security, or other positions can now participate in RPB’s retirement plan.

And also
  • Are a member of one of the following Reform Movement professional organizations (CCAR, NATA, ARJE, ECE-RJ, PEP-RJ, ATID), only if the organization requires membership based on their job. Visit rpb.org/eligibility for positions that must be professional organization members.

NOTE: If the employee is eligible for the American Conference of Cantors retirement plan, they are not eligible for the RPB Plan.

Why we are expanding eligibility

For more than 75 years, RPB has been helping strengthen the Reform Movement by providing a retirement plan to rabbis and other professional staff. Now by offering this broader access, we can truly fulfill our mission of serving more of those who work tirelessly to care for our communities.

The expanded eligibility policy also enables congregations of all sizes to:

  • Provide a high-quality retirement plan to help attract and retain top talent.

  • Reduce the burden and cost of providing an alternative plan to employees who previously didn’t qualify for the RPB plan.

  • Meet their state-mandated retirement plan requirements, as applicable.
